Schools, Community and Uniformed Groups

Pinkston operates as a charity and delivers exceptional value in terms of outdoor experiences, outdoor education, skill building and fun sessions!

We offer a range of single sessions, half days and full days plus weekly blocks of sessions to try different activities or to build skills.

Tell us if you activity is a fun school trip, a learning experience or skills building – and we will tailor your experience to fit your curriculum objectives.

A typical day might look like a morning split into 2 sessions, time for a packed lunch then another two sessions – one on the water – kayaking, paddleboarding or canoeing.  Perhaps adding a fun element with giant sup’s (paddleboards) or the challenge of raft building.  Our land based activities might include bushcraft and toasting marshmallows around a campfire, Highland Games for a bit of competition, archery or orienteering.  We can mix and match activities to suit group numbers.

We work in ratios of 1:8.  Consider your group size – 8/16/32 – work brilliantly.  Larger than 32 we work with the Loading Bay, adjacent to Pinkston and add in BMX’ing, skateboarding, and trampolining/parkour!  This works best as a half day in each location with a swap after packed lunches.

ASN

The Pinkston staff team have lots of experience with working with different groups and managing all abilities.  We have fully accessible facilities including a accessible pontoon, adaptive equipment, ramps and alarmed bathroom facilities to make getting on and off the water easier.  In addition, the staff teamwork with hard to reach young people in smaller groups working on employability skills.  We can support health and wellbeing around confidence, self esteem and motivation.  Equally we can focus on time management, flexibility planning, organising and problem solving.  ASN group ratios are smaller and always tailor made.  1:1, 1:2, 1:4, 2:6 etc. We believe many of our activities benefit from working with a small team therefore we discuss the details of our desired outcomes in advance.

WHY CHOOSE PINKSTON –

Outdoor and adventurous activities are proven to deliver positive personal development.  Learning and trying something new helps build friendships, confidence, resilience, teamwork and positive communication skills.  Pinkston has a clean (tested) freshwater basin and offers safe outdoor experiences adjacent to the M8 (J15).  The outdoors will be wet, perhaps muddy, and will pose some minimal risks to young people.  These challenges are managed and offer opportunity to develop skills around risk and risk management leading to personal development and growth.  Children and young people can do all this whilst having fun!
