Surviving Lockdown 2021 – Jacqui

graphical user interface

We are celebrating how our community is using the 5 ways to wellbeing to get through lockdown (connect – be active – take notice – give – keep learning)

And we absolutely love this latest story from Jacqui of Monklands Canoe Club. We are pretty sure this ticks all 5 ways to wellbeing and is the epitome of community spirit. Here is her story:

“We’ve had a pretty good lockdown on the whole.. apart from loosing the cat at the start but Jack gained a girlfriend and we gained her dog Walter.I’ve been doing a mixture of working from home and face to face training which is why I got the vaccine a couple of weeks ago.

There’s 5 of us in the house so plenty of people around to keep each other busy or do your nut in

We’ve got the woods at the back of the house to go for a wander and I’ve managed to get down a couple of rivers and been jogging a bit.

I’ve also been running some zoom classes for Monklands, we do boxing for fitness on a Monday and circuits on a Thursday.. anyone can join in, shadow box or use it as excuse to knock lumps out your partner in the name of sport it gets us off the couch and moving for an hour and it’s good to see everyone and get a wee catch up.

I’m so looking forward to getting back to normal and hopefully get paddling in Spain this year…  we had booked for Spain last September which was covid cancelled so instead we had a paddling staycation 7 Scottish rivers in 6 days based ourselves at morags fort Augustus, the rivers, weather and banter was the best! Everything happens for a reason
