Seasonal Instructor
Pinkston Watersports is home to Scotland’s only artificial white-water course; a community paddlesports centre with a clean water basin. As a charity, Pinkston works with a variety of people within the community as well as being open to the public for both paddlesports and dry land activities. These versatile roles require skills across a wide range of client groups, from birthday parties to small 1:2 ASN deliveries.
Job title: Seasonal Instructor
Pay: £13.00 – £13.95 (£27,202 pro rata) depending on experience
Responsible to: Activities Manager/Centre Manager
Hours of duty: Various contracts with additional hours from June-September including weekends and evenings
Flexible working patterns will be required
Location: Pinkston Watersports, 75 North Canal Bank street, G4 9XP
Length of contract: Staggered starts available from March 16th 2026.
Staggered ends available until October 30th 2026
Essential criteria:
- Valid two-day first aid certificate
- Valid safeguarding training/certificate
- British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor (or equivalent)
- Experience in delivering dry land activities such as teambuilding and Bushcraft
- Subject to a suitable PVG disclosure check
Desirable criteria:
Experience and qualifications including
- Have worked in the outdoor industry previously (in any capacity)
- British Canoeing White Water Safety and Rescue
- British Canoeing White Water Kayak Leader
- Archery GB Instructor
- IRF/SRA Level 1 Raft Guide
- British Canoeing Introduction to PaddleAbility
- Driving license / car / D1
- Knowledge and understanding of adverse childhood experiences
- Experience working with additional support need groups
Skills:
You will have to hold a British Canoeing Paddlesports Instructor Award to be considered for this role. We are looking for people who have previous experience of working or volunteering with a wide range of clients such as care experienced young people, schools, families and adults/children with additional support needs. Our seasonal instructors need to be committed to excellent customer service and be passionate about sharing their love of paddling and outdoor activities with our clients.
Key responsibilities:
As a seasonal instructor, you will need to work well within our small team or instructors, admin staff and senior management.
You will be responsible for delivering safe and engaging outdoor activities across the site. Activities that you would be expected to deliver are flat water kayaking, whitewater kayaking (if you have sufficient experience/qualifications), stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, white-water tubing, raft building, archery, teambuilding and bushcraft.
Another aspect of this job role will involve upkeep and cleaning of the site, ensuring kit is safe and available to use and supporting maintenance staff.
